The cruiserweight bout between Jai Opetaia and Brandon Glanton is confirmed for March 8 at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. The matchup headlines the fourth edition of Zuffa Boxing, live on Paramount+, with at least two belts at stake.
Australia’s Opetaia (29-0, 23 KOs) and Glanton (21-3, 18 KOs) of Atlanta, Georgia, clash for the inaugural Zuffa Boxing title. Opetaia is also the reigning IBF champion and Ring Magazine belt holder.
The Ring strap is confirmed to be on the line at the upcoming event. As of writing, there is no word on whether the IBF title – one of boxing’s four major sanctioning bodies – will be contested that night.
Sydney’s 30-year-old southpaw Opetaia is coming off an eight-round knockout victory over Huseyin Cinkara last December. Glanton, 33, stopped Marcus Browne in six rounds last October, bouncing back from a decision defeat to Chris Billam-Smith in April.
Dana White confirmed the first Zuffa Boxing championship, pitting Opetaia against Glanton, via a live video on social media Tuesday. The UFC CEO also confirmed that the Ring Magazine belt is up for grabs.
The rest of the Zuffa Boxing 4 lineup, which will serve as the Opetaia vs Glanton undercard, is expected to be announced shortly.
