Ronda Rousey defeats Gina Carano in the headliner of the first MMA card streamed on Netflix

Ronda Rousey defeated Gina Carano by first-round armbar submission on Saturday, May 16, live on Netflix from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. The MVP-promoted event marked the first MMA card streamed on the platform.

The scheduled five-round featherweight bout ended in 17 seconds. Rousey took Carano down as she threw a left leg kick, delivered a few punches, secured an armbar, and forced her to tap.

With the victory, former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey of Riverside, California, bounced back from losses to Amanda Nunes and Holly Holm nearly 10 years ago and improved to 13-2.

Gina Carano of Dallas County, Texas, dropped to 7-2 and recorded her second straight defeat after being stopped by Cris Cyborg over 16 years ago.

Perry stops Diaz, Ngannou KOs Lins

On the Rousey vs Carano undercard, BKFC “King of Violence” Mike Perry (15-8) defeated fellow former UFC fighter Nate Diaz (21-14) by second-round TKO. The welterweight bout was stopped before the start of the third round due to cuts suffered by Diaz.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou (19-3) knocked out 2018 PFL champion Philipe Lins (18-6) in the first round with punches. The finish came at 4:31 of the round.

Salahdine Parnasse (23-2) defeated Kenneth Cross (17-5) by first-round TKO with punches at lightweight. The official time of the stoppage was 4:18 of the round.

In the telecast opener, Robelis Despaigne (6-2) knocked out former UFC champion Junior dos Santos (23-11) in the first round at heavyweight. The time of the stoppage was 2:59 of the round.

On Rousey vs Carano prelims

Among the prelims, Namo Fazil (10-1) defeated Jake Babian (6-2) via a second-round D’arce choke submission at welterweight. The finish came at 0:58 of the round.

Adriano Moraes (22-6) defeated Phumi Nkuta (11-1) by third-round rear-naked choke submission at flyweight. After video review, it was declared that Nkuta was out when the bell rang and the official time of the finish was announced as 4:59 of the round.

Jason Jackson (20-6) knocked out Jefferson Creighton (12-3-1) in the first round at welterweight, dropping his opponent with a left hook followed by punches. The stoppage came at 0:22 of the round.

David Mgoyan (9-1) earned a unanimous decision over Albert Morales (19-11-1) at featherweight. The judges scored the fight 29-28, 30-26, and 30-27.

Aline Pereira (3-2) defeated Jade Masson-Wong (3-3) by split decision in a 130-pound catchweight bout. The judges scored it 29-28, 27-30, and 29-28.

In the event opener, Brandon Jenkins (18-12) defeated Chris Avila (8-10) by split decision in a 165-pound catchweight bout. The judges scored it 29-28, 28-29, and 29-28.
